  • October 2007.  Dietary Supplement boosts IVF hopes.  An experimental treatment using a supplement called dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) is being tried out at the Center for Human Reproduction in New York.  The hope is that this treatment might improve the chances of older women using their own eggs to conceive with IVF instead of resorting to donors.
  • January 2008.  Best evidence yet of caffeine-miscarriage link.   Women in early pregnancy who drink a cup and a half of coffee every day are at greater risk of miscarriage than those who stay away from caffeine.   The study, out of Oakland, USA, is one of the largest to look at the connection between caffeine and miscarriage, and the first to interview women about their caffeine habits before they've actually suffered a miscarriage.
